Default Sentry Theft Deterrant Key

Does anyone have a the sentry theft deterrant key for their truck. If so does your truck have keyless entry. I am asking this because I have this key with the power package but no keyless entry. I called the dealer to see if I could get keyless entry and they said that I cannot because of the key. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Yes my o9 has the sentry theft key, as well as the keyless, and full alarm.

no, I believe he's talking about the old fashioned bladed key, not the fancy new one. Beleive it or not, not all of the 09's have that crazy fob key.

I have the traditional key, with power locks and windows. If all you want is keyless entry, read my how to here:

Default Sentry Key

The key has the blade on it because the blade is to get in the doors. However, the ignition is a sentry ignition and that is what starts the key. I have read your link but, I want to get a dealer installed keyless entry system installed.

I'm confused. So is your key an old fashioned blade key, or the new fob style that almost resembles a usb port? Not talking about door locks, but ignition. What trim level is your truck?

If you do infact have a bladed ignition key (this is a chipped sentry key too), then what the dealer is telling you is likely correct. the factory keyless transmitters (and remote start)are integrated into the key itself (the usb like fob keys).

If I'm understanding you correctly that your truck is like mine, you will need to go aftermarket. If you don't want to do it yourself, an alarm shop will be able to help you.

If you do infact have the new fob ignition key, but do not have keyless, I have no idea if what the dealer is telling you is correct or not because I did not know such a thing existed.

Likely, a dodge dealer will tell you it can't be done, because with factory parts, it can't. An alarm dealer will likely tell you that you need a computer interface, which if you're adding an alarm and/or remote start, is the way to go. If you just want keyless and nothing else, that is simple and cheap. The dealer and most alarm techs will try to come up with a way to tell the computer to unlock the doors, which is getting progressively harder to do, especially in a first model year truck. I cloned the lock/unlock button by remote control, essentially adding another button. The computer doesn't know the difference.

I have the sentry key, and hidden inside the back end of the new fob is a bladed key. I have no idea how to use the "valet" feature.....

It is a key with the blade and fob usb style end. The blade extends out from the fob. The trim is ST

I'm still confused, it's either one or the other. Does your key look like the one on the left, or the one on the right? If you have an ST like I do, you should have the key on the left. Just about everything else should have the one on the right. Note that the one on the right is the fob and has no metal blade.

All of the factory stuff will be integrated into the right side type of ignition key. Not having that type of ignition, that's why the dealer is telling you a factory system won't work. Which is why, if you want keyless with a separate fob transmitter, you will need to go aftermarket.

the key on the right has a blade key hidden inside it. if you look at the picture on the bottom there us a clip on the bottom, if you slide it over you can pull the key out

yes, but that pull out key only works for unlocking the doors, just like the two non-chipped keys I have. They are the 'third' key that is not listed. My ST came with 4 keys, two of the ones on the left for the ignition/doors, and two other ones that are different (no transponder) that only unlock the doors.
