Default REN Radio Questions

I have a question regarding the REN radio and Ipod. I had the RES radio installed from the factory and when I purchased the truck, I worked in the deal to have the REN installed at the dealer. With the REN being installed at the dealer, what would I have to have or do to be able and play my Ipod thru the REN. I looked in both glove boxes and there is no place to plug an Ipod cable into. Also when I picked the truck up, the Sirius was not hooked up. It said to call Sirius to have it activated. Does anyone know what I need to provide to Sirius to get it going. My RES had Sat. radio from the factory. Is there a number to give them to activate it?

For the Sirius you'll most likely need your account number, the number of the old receiver, and the number from the new receiver.

There's an aux in input on the front of the REN radio, but other than that you need to purchase a separate cable to control the iPod. It's over $100 I believe.

For the Ipod cable that is around $100, does that plug into the rear of the radio? I would like to be able to control the Ipod thru all of the radio and steering wheel controls, is this possible with just a cable or do I have to add UConnect? I am trying to get everything together because I plan on doing the lock pick and I wanted to do everything all in one shot.

From just reading on here and looking at the website, it is a plug and play device that plugs into the back of the REN and RER radios so that you have full control of all functions of the radio while driving. With the REN, you enables you to watch a DVD while driving. With the RER, I believe it enables you to watch DVD's while driving as well as enter addresses into the GPS functuion of the radio. If you do a goolge search for coastaletech and then click on the MyGig tab.

I just got an email from a parts manager that was checking on the iPod cable for me. He replied with this: "At this point in time there is not a full integration available yet. Mopar is working on software communication problems. The generic software Mopar uses in the radios has trouble with the apple software in the IPod. "

I emailed him back asking when he thought the problem would be fixed. The correct cable depends on what you have installed.

Hope this helps!

I got an update from the dealer that I have been working with. He said that:
"At this point in time there is not a full integration available yet. Mopar is working on software communication problems. The generic software Mopar uses in the radios has trouble with the apple software in the IPod. As for the IPod cable I would wait for the new kit to come out. You may have to buy the cable with any software updates. They have a request to all dealers with any cable kits to send them back to Mopar until they get it straightened out."

Hope this helps! I want the full integration so I will wait.

I also would like to add ipod integration.

However I only have the regular radio. Am i able to upgrade to a MyGig radio (w/out nav) and not need any other adaptors? I would install the lock-pick at the same time as well. I have seen some on ebay for a couple hundred dollars.

Do i need anything aditional?
Do i need to have the dealer fix any codes?
Will it fit in the current bezel location, w/out needed a new trim piece?

dgriffith,

I had the regular radio in my 09 when I bought it and had the dealer install the REN (without nav.) as a part of the deal. I have since installed the AllGig-USB from http://www.navtv.com/ and so far I am very pleased with it. I only went with this unit because I have been reading where a few have had issues with their lock-picks and needed them replaced. At this point, I am still unable to add Ipod so I believe I am going to have to add the UConnect system from Mopar. I think this is the UConnect kit that I will need http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-...ubGroupId=3025 and then I will need an Ipod cable http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-...ubGroupId=3334 Again, I think this is what I will need to add the Ipod soft button to the screen of the REN and be able to control the Ipod thru the radio controls. The only thing I am trying to weigh out right now is if it is actually worth $300 to be able to control my Ipod thru the radio control. Right now I just put my Ipod Touch in the big pocket in front of the shifter and change everything via the Ipod. I have a coiled 3.5mm-3.5mm cord that I use so i don't have the cable flopping around everywhere. So, I think for $300 I can just do everything thru the Touch for now because I have no interest in using the phone feature of the UConnect system.
