Default Thank you back up sensors!

This weekend my son had a cub scout meeting at the leaders house and after the meeting was over, me and the other Dad's were just chillin and the boys were riding a couple of go carts around. When it was time to leave, I put some stuff in the bed, walked around the back to get in and realized I forgot my cell in the garage. Came out after getting my phone and went around the front, jumped in put it in reverse. The back up sensors beeped, and then beeped some more. Thought that was strange since I was just back there. Jumped out to check and in the time it took me to run in and get my phone, one of the other kids had left one of the go carts directly behind my truck. Saved my bumper (sport model) and potentially a kid. Never had back up sensors before and in less than 3 months, they have already proven to be and asset!

Yea, they are great. I want to install the rear view camera too, for added protection.

When reversing, I pretty much rely on the sensors.

I SURE trust them now. When I bought my truck, I did not want the screen in the dash. Had a 7 series BMW (go ahead, throw stones) but I NEVER used it. Got rid of it since the motor had nothing but problems (BMW's are great cars......As long you don't drive them). My 03 1500 does not have the sensors and I do not know how I was able to go so long without the sensors. Had many close calls.

I never had back up sensors before this truck. I always back up in my drive so that I don't track grass into the truck when I get in. The other day as I was backing up my neighbor across the street came out and waved, as I was waving back and not paying attention the sensor started going off. My first thought was great, somethings wrong with it but when it turned red I thought what the hell, so got out and my sons friend had parked his motorcycle at the top of the drive right where I always stop at. Was only about 4" from backing over it. I've learned to rely on it a lot now. Jeff.

I back into my spot at work, which is bordered by a low curb and some plants (nothing I could even reach before the tires would hit the curb). It beeps at the perfect distance - when my tires are about 3 inches from the curb. I swear, the system is sensitive enough to pick up the tiny branches of the plants without any leaves on them.

although teaching a kid a lesson by giving him a nice bump is always nice too.

That's where the camera would come in handy. Give him a nice controlled tap.

The only thing I dont like about the sensors, and it will happen with all cars, is that when you are backing up near another car they get worried and honk at you. What can you do though.
