i'll take hot air over no air,cooler air will make more power but more air more power reguardless of ambient temp

I wonder if the alleged power gains with a CAI really come from the use of a cone filter vs a flat panel filter. I think the cone has a greater area to draw air in.

Absoloutely the cone filter has more surface area but if you look at that Airaid setup it's basically the stock box with a cone filter mounted. Why not save a few hundred bucks and mount your own cone.

I agree just mount your own cone...cannot be that hard. I think since they were forced to improve mileage as well as horsepower I would say that the box with that huge filter will do just as much as an after market waste of money. I would love to see an actual dyno in front of my eyes not after the fact. I put one on my 03 Durango R/T and after about 6 months of getting worse mileage I sold it for 40 bucks just to get rid of it.

I know a guy who swears by it but he takes in a step further and makes sure there are no restrictions at all, he makes his own pipes etc. I might think he is getting progress on his Dakota but this 09 HEMI is sucking all it needs. JMHO
