Default Navigation Screen Not Dimming / Night Mode.

When in Navigation mode, I hit the menu button, then select display settings and the choices of Day, Night or Auto are available. If I select Night, the display dims (I have night setting around 5). If I select Auto, the display does not dim at night? I thought when the headlights came on the display would know to dim?

Does your work? What am I missing?

If you look at the dial that dims your interior lights you will notice to dots to the right. To the far right will turn your interior lights on, the dot to the left is called parade mode. You are in parade mode and that is why your Nav is not dimming. Slide the dial to the left of that dot and it will dim when the lights are on.

I know that my dial is set that way, it clicks into that position, I will change it!

I read through the navigation manual looking for the answer but no luck.

Thanks!

I just got back from the dealer, they said if it doesn't have automatic headlight operation (Extra cost option) then the display won't dim automatically, who knows? This was was 1 day before warantee ran out, so maybe it was to get me out of there!

That sounds like a b*llsh*t answer to me. you radio should dim when you turn your lights on no matter what. I had a 91 ford truck that even would do that. But you do need to check that you dont have your interior lights dimmer **** rolled too far, turn your lights on and then roll it all the way to both sides, one way will have it on bright and the other way will make it dim.

1 day before warranty does not matter you reported the problem while under warranty so you are all set. They tried that on me once. But I had the work order to prove I was in.

The Dealer was wrong, the teck guy even checked out another vehicle on the lot! I read one of these posts and tried the dimmer **** adjustment thingy, it worked like someone said it would. Now the navigation screen does, in fact dim when the headlights are on. Sorta what I took it to the dealer for. Thanks guys, for the info. I'll stay in touch. FLICKER (I have that on a personalized licensed plate also) MVB not too bright, eh?

Although this may be an old post it helped me.
Manual is good for nothing.

Bump for those who are unaware of such an easy fix
