The adapter might be a thought. The suspension also prohibits you from using a slide-in camper (at least on the CC Ram 1500). The way Dodge has it set up is that if you plan on towing/hauling, then you should really step up to the 2500/3500. The other half-tons sacrifice ride quality for towing capability and then sell less 3/4 tons.

I think the drilling in the frame would be a stanard answer for liablity reasons, factory probadly wouldn't recommend it on a 3/4 ton either, factory had quiet abit to say about the coil springs being the same rating as the 08 rams leaf springs when they first came out, as was mentioned I have seen many 1/2 s pulling 5th wheels and while some were overloaded a small one would be no problem I would think other than short bed on the crewcabs, I also seen an airbag helper setup for 09 dodges for under 100, I am sure this will be addressed by Dodge (nowere on frame to mount) if it is true

If your going to get a 5th wheel you dont get a small one, in that case you might as well just use a regular tung trailer or at most a gooseneck

I'd love to get an airbag helper system for the 2 times a year I have to tow my trailer. Only other thing I've seen is the Stinger hitch setup, here's the link: http://stingerhitch.com/
It may be more expensive than the airbag setup, but I have no idea how much those are.

I see very few 1/2 tons pulling goosenecks or 5th wheels that have any business pulling what they're pulling. The original poster may well be one of those not trying to pull too much with a 1/2 ton, I dunno. In the meantime, I bet it won't be long before someone comes out with a hitch designed to work around whatever obstacles the '09 chassis presents.

Default Fifth Wheel Hitch

I have a great opportunity to buy a fith wheel trailer. It's an estate sale, perfect condition and cheap. It was towed all over with a 2nd generation 1500 4x4. It easily fits the weight recommendations and is the exact floor plan that we like. I would like to know, without being flamed, if anyone has installed a hitch in their 09-10 Ram 1500 4x4. I have towed trailers for a long time and have had a couple of fifth wheels. I understand the need to comply with recommended weights and sizes. I also know that I may have to change the trailer's pin box. I just want info on the hitch. Feel free to pm me if you think you might get lectured on here. Thanks.
