I'm looking at picking up an REN or RER radio for my dodge that currently has the "stock" CD player. I'm wondering if there is anything additional that I will need if I buy this from an individual or if it will clip right in with the harness that is currently in there.
Bump. Yeah my head is spinning trying to figure out whether or not this will work in my truck. Here is the part number of the one I'm looking at if that helps.
I had the regular RES radio from the factory and had the dealer install the REN. There will be no modifications needed to put the REN in, it will fit in the hole and the harness will plug right in. The only thing you may have to add if you want hands free or to be able to use the Ipod is the UConnect. If you are looking at the RER, I would imagine you would have to add/install the antenna for the nav. Also, you have to make sure that you get the right radio, there is a high speed bus and low speed bus and you have to have the right one for it to work in the Ram. I'm not sure which one we need in our trucks though.
That's kind of what I'm getting at. Thanks for the info. What are the particulars I should check to see if it will work. High speed/Low Speed BUS .....is there anything else?
Thanks guys
The RER is a PLUG and PLAY radio just put it in and it works if you want the UCCONNECT you need to get a mic........ Make sure it is a HIGH speed or it wont work... I purchased mine from OEM motorsports.....

From the way I understand it, you have to have the UConnect control box behind the glove box for UConnect to work. I know from the factory I never had the UConnect installed so i would have to add everything.
