Default Ram Box vs Regular bed

As most of you know, last November I bought an 09 sport crew with the regular bed even though I really wanted a ram box. As I've posted before, the want of the ram box just wouldn't go away so I ordered one last month and picked it up on Monday. Thought I'd compare the 2 trucks for those still looking and trying to decide. The reg bed truck was fast and light on it's feet so to speak, a nice thrill ride for this old man and I was very happy with it. I do love my new ram box though but have to say that bed must be heavy because I can feel the difference just by the way the rambox truck drives. Now this doesn't bother me because I'm in it for the convenience and the ability to tow my toyhauler, but I won't be a cocky as I was on the highway now that's for sure. Not saying the ram box is slow by any means just not as fast as that regular bed was especially off the line.
By the way, if anyone is looking for an 09 and wants a really good deal. Bluebonnet motors in New Braunfels, TX has my used one on the lot for $30,995.00. They gave me $27,000 trade on it and it only has 5100 miles. Has already had it's first oil change with Moble 1 and new filter and runs great. They did not really do anything extra for me on the deal so someone with good bargining skils could make a hell of a deal on this truck. See below for the extras
Sport Crew Cab / Inferno Red / 5.7Hemi - Avg'd 18.8mpg Hwy, 14.8 City
3:92 w/limited slip
leather seating / heated & cooled / leather is tight no wrinkles
sun roof
adjustable pedals
my gig REN stereo w/10 spkr set up / uConnect
dual zone a/c
heated steering wheel
sport premium grp
Chrome trim on doors & hemi pin stipe (I liked it, I know some don't)
List was $42,955 / This was a pre release truck so it does not have the fuel saver light, no locking tailgate, and maybe some other stuff I can't remember but would still be a steel for say $27,900+TTL.
Anyway, thought I'd let ya'll know the ram box does add a little extra weight so if you're in it for the speed get regular box, if you're in it for the convenience and like the ram box go for it. Jeff.

I'm not sure the weight of the ram box makes that much difference. I test drove more than one vehicle (all identical except for color) and they felt considerably different. Neither had a box.

allhans, you may be right. I only have driven 3. I test drove a larimie crew, then test drove the sport I bought in nov but they seemed pretty much the same to me. The ram box though does feel a little heavier in the rear end, but then that might just be my rear end and not the trucks! Jeff.
