Default towing

Hey i have a 16 ft cargo trailer with a GvWR of 7000 lbs. Loaded it's right around 6000lbs. I'm looking at buying the new 09 1500 hemi v8 slt 4x4. Do you think this truck would handle it or do i need a 3/4 ton. I pull it right now with a 98 DOdge 1/2 ton and it handles the trailer well but has the wrong gearing and pulls like junk.

I have a 20ft loaded at 4000 with 3.55s and it does fine, if you can get 3.92s depending on how often you tow.

It should be fine as long as you use trailer brakes. Do not try to haul 6000 lbs with a 1/2 ton and no trailer brakes. In fact, that would probably be dumb with a heavy duty pickup.
