A 5w20 weight oil is not going to protect as well at higher temperatures like a 5w30 weight oil will. I take it if thats whats reccomended the newer engines must run cooler.

The lubrication won't change, the oil is thinner and can travel and lubricate faster/quicker. Oils can be thinner now because engines run quieter and don't need the thicker oil quiet down the rotating assembly. Stick with the 5W-20. It's what people with 6-8 years of school deveolped and designed as optimum. If they thought there would be a wear problem at all, they wouldn't offer a lifetime warranty.

Engines run more efficiently with lighter weight oil, less resistance from the thickness.

MDS won't work properly without the correct viscosity oil. It works basically by pumping oil. It's CRITICAL that you use the recommended grade.

Yes, it is CRITICAL. There are some naysayers that will post things like, "I run xxx oil in my MDS Hemi and it runs fine".

If the engineers say you need it, it is probably a good idea to use it. The lifters work on oil pressure and the lifters are what run MDS. If you use the wrong oil, MDS may not or will not function properly.

I agree with these 2, i just switched my oil to 5W/20 Mobile 1 FS and it works perfectly if not a little better
