If you read the article closely it mentions that the Ram and Dakota would be sold off as in bought by someone else. Jeep is the one that they say they can't see surviving. There is NO way the Dodge Ram will be disappearing anytime soon. A LOT has to be hashed out during the bankruptcy so we'll see what happens but hey look at this way, if by some strange alignment of the stars the Ram vanishes, our's will be the ONLY 4th Gen Rams out there. Value wise...it'll help. I'm really not too worried either way...I love my truck and since I have the lifetime powertrain and Maxcare warranty backed by the Federal Government...I'm good to go!

Don't sweat the small stuff...

I don't think Dodge or the Dodge Ram name and line will cease to exist. Just may be under a different holding name -- like the Fiat Dodge Ram.

Edmonds has the Ram as the #1 rated pick-up for 2009.

Doubtful it will happen. Everything is speculation right now, writers/news media lives for this crap.

I will toss a kink in your thought HEMICrew. It is not a good idea to have the only year 4th GEN made. Very few will make aftermarket items for a 1 year, 40-50K unit truck.

I agree with you but I'm not modding my truck so aftermarket doesn't matter to me. I had that bug and got it out of my system..had a HEAVILY modded 2002 Dodge Dakota Show Truck that I put money into and it was a beautiful fun truck but I love the Ram much better. Other than typical spray in liner, NAV TV, iPod cable, etc....I'm not doing anything to it. There will always be tires and wheels should I feel the need to change them but I understand your point for people who want to mod the truck but that won't negatively affect the value.

Robert Manzo is an a$$hole who is just speculating. His company has been a financial adviser to Chrysler LLC in the past and we all see how great a job they've done previously.
His "guess" that Jeep Wrangler will cease to exist is crazy. It's the only profitable vehicle built here. It has had among the highest resale value's forever, and is still one of the three most popular used vehicles in demand.
The guy is all wet, so I'd take what he says about the Ram or anything else with a grain of salt...

Yeah, that doesn't sound right. Maybe it is a leak to make people run out and buy them.
Although, we all know how obomination feels about fuel consumption, and with the admin holding seats, maybe they're dumping off all of the muscle in favor of 4 and 6 cylinder vehicles.

True or not, it will have an impact on the release of aftermarket parts until everything is sorted out.

And I don't think its impossible for the Ram and ther models to be disbanded being the govt owns them and might try to make an example of Chrysler. Obummer is pushing green and MPG and this is an oportunity to completely change the companies lineup for more eco junk.

Look at the new campain for Chrysler, the one about building a new company. Notice the vehicles chosen, two of them aren't even production yet. And the Ram is the newest vehicle you can currently buy from Chrysler yet no advertising. Maybe at this point they realize it would be wasted advertising money and forsee who will be sold off.

And if the Ram is sold to a new holding company would they have interest in keeping the brand. Say a holding company that has stake in Nissan were to buy the Ram. The Ram would get scrapped and the good engineering from our truck would be implemented into the Titan.

Lets just say worst case scenario and the Ram brand is expelled from existance, would the govt foot the bill to buy back 09's? Being such a new model I doubt there is a stockpile of parts available to maintain the trucks for any extended period of time.

That would be total and utter bull**** if they did anything to the Ram. The Ram is what made the current truck market!!!!!! The Ram is also the most energy efficient truck being made right now. All of this bull**** that the gov't wants cleaner SUVs and Trucks. Well, the gov't is the problem!!!! Look at the ****ing EPA!!!
All I'm saying is that the Ram shall live on forever in the Dodge truck line! And dont even get me started on the Wrangler.......If they killed that, I would organize about 1,000,000,000 Jeep lovers for a be-heading!
