Question Maybe get a truck

So I'm getting the I want a different vehicle bug. I have a 04 Subaru Impreza WRX 5 speed.(Looking to sell if get a new one.) My cousin has a Ram 1500 and his brother was trying talk me into getting a Ram 1500. So we were looking on the Dodge site. He suggested the Sport model. I was looking at the Crew or Quad cab.
How much difference is the Crew and Quad Cab?
Can you tell whats the difference with the TRX,Sport and Laramie? I can spot the outside differences.

I was also wondering why they don't come in 5-6 speed transmission?

Thank You!

Working backwards - no 6 speed. That's something that Ford has (not sure about Chevy). But with the 5.7 Hemi you get MDS that reduces down to 4 cylinders when possible.

Last year they had the Quad Cab and the Mega Cab - but lost the Mega Cab for the Crew Cab. From my opinion you lose a little leg room - not quite as much storage - but the bed is a bit bigger.

I have the crew cab - but my children are late teens early twenties and need the space. If you've got little runts the quad might work fine for you.

I would suggest that you go on the Dodge site to the Build You Own section. Then, as you choose various body styles you'll get popups that describe the differences as well as some illustrations.

The Laramie is the loaded model - leather interior, heated steering wheel, ventilated and heated seats, etc.

You've just got to dig on the site and you'll find out the differences.

Coming out of an Imprezza, you're bound to notice a world of difference.

The truck is MASSIVE in comparison. You can sit with two up front and feel like you're in opposite aisles on a plane.

The driving position is commanding, only 18 wheelers and other pickups with lift kits are taller.

The HEMI has 400 ft/lbs of torque, it moves rapidly. Doesn't do corners though like you'll be used to, though.

I got out of a Jag XK8 into the RAM, and I'm still smiling.

Usually the decision between the Sport or Laramie is just whether you like chrome bumpers or painted. Option wise the difference between the two has basically been covered, full leather with options of seat heaters/cooler/steering wheel heater and climate control. Different sytle 20s as well.

The choice of a SLT over a Sport is usually cost driven.

You may find it hard to find what you want right now. Inventory levels will be falling over the next 30-60 days with no new trucks being built.

Thanks for the replies.
So they all basically have the 5.7 HEMI then? Performance is roughly the same? I don't really need a big bed. I might take the occasional trash to the dump.
I know its would be a big difference from my car. My cousin was suggesting a truck to get me higher up and not worry about if someone would hit me. Then he also says I'll end up slowing down and not have to worry about people cutting me off.
My friend has a infant and I can't even fit the seat in my backseat with my seat up (I'm 5'2) so I started thinking about the future and all.
Yeah I noticed look at inventory online the orange is hard to find.

Do you think they will start re-building? (In case I find nothing) or Would the dealers give a real good deal on something that is almost like what I'd want? Do you get deals if my cousin works as a Dodge mechanic?

No, not all of them have the Hemi, some have the 4.7, which is around 300HP.

As for them starting production again, not until the deal is done with Fiat and they are done with the bankruptsy hearings.

If you are really into power then the Hemi might be the way to go considering gas mileage is fairly equal between the two engines. We have the 4.7l v8 and it is plenty for us. It has 310hp and 330tq.
Depending on what you want to spend we found the TRX to be the least expensive. Our truck was 32k sticker. There is not a stitch of leather anywhere not even the steering wheel. Seats are cloth but it seems to be quality material. I have owned 3 different Subaru's(2000 Impreza RS, 2003 WRX wagon, 2004 Forester XT)and I am willing to bet you that you will find the interior in a TRX much nicer. Of course any trim level higher in the RAM is even nicer. The one thing that attracted us to the TRX model was the two tone paint, fender flairs, no chrome grill or bumpers, and 17" wheels with A/T tires. When we first started looking at getting a truck the Ram was at the top of the list so I started my research. I found out quickly I did not want 20" wheels simply due to the cost of replacing the tires. There are very few choices out there and if you try to go with a different size chances are you can't find it or the tires are $200 a piece. Our Ram is black on gray but we would have loved to get the orange or bright blue on gray. The blue looks very nice with the gray two tone and fender flairs. What you should do is just go to a good dealer and check out what you can. I don't think you would regret going from a Suby to a big Dodge Ram.
