What is the little round hole in the overhead console? It's not the lighting for the center console below. This looks like a camera lens aimed at the backseat area, but might be some sort of IR receiver. I really have no idea. I thought maybe it's for the Homelink training, although I am not sure why it would be there for that. Help me with this one...

 

its just some hole, i can figure out what its for but in my truck there is nothing on it or in it

 

It is the cab temp sensor for the automatic temp control. It is infrared.

 

what if you dont have the auto temp control? i dont have them on my SLT Big Horn but there is a "sensor" in that location

 

Its the smokers light i think. Its a very light green light that shines where your ashtray would go. Thinks its called the smokers package,.

 

I do not think that is it. There is a light that shines on the center console already in the area and the design looks nothing like that light. The IR for the HVAC makes more sense to me, although it is odd it would be on non-auto HVAC models, although if it's a $2.00 sensor it might be cheaper to just install it on every truck. If so it seems like a waste of money for Dodge since 50 little $2.00 items adds up to $100 extra per truck and X 200,000 trucks is a lot of moolah.

 

Its a secret camera that transmits to Dodge headquarters. Everything we do and say is being monitored.
