got the Line-x installed last week. Looked great when we picked it up. Sorry, no pics, almost immediately went back to the dealer to get a cover installed. Had to leave it with them over the weekend as they wanted the truck to do color match. Apparently the detonator yellow is hard to match with just the paint code. The local Line-x here in OKC charges $415 for the 5.7' bed on the 09 Ram 1500.

Default I had my done with Vortex

After getting a price of $650 for Line-x, I decided to go with the $400 Vortex, and I'm very satisfied with it.

Attached are a few photo's and keep in mind that the bed is a little wet from rain this morning.

Yeah, but if you drop a big rock back there or slam a battery down then you have a big dent in the bed. A drop-in liner protects more against that.

Possibly, but at least you wont see Line-X laying on the side of the road!

Default over the rail

I don't think I saw this asked before, but why does everyone go over the front rail with the Line-x?

On my 3rd Ram, all with a Mopar drop-in, and not one has even come close to flying out.

This is the DIY liner I was talking about earlier.

http://www.alsliner.com/

I'd have to say it looks to be the best on the market but I have not tried it. It is a A/B solution and process just as Line-X is. It has the poly and resin as line-x does. I am guessing the thickness is determined by the sprayer. Most DIY liners that I have done don't achieve the thickness of say Line-X which in turn doesn't give you the durability.

As for drop in's. They have their pros and cons. I had a mopar one in my 96' Dodge Ram Diesel and I took it up after she was getting cuts and falling apart. Once I took it up I noticed the whole bed was rusted pretty good. I sanded it down and applied DIY bedliner and I installed a 5th wheel hitch so drop in bedliner would not have worked.

I had a drop in on my old ranger and it wore completely through the sheel metal on the front rail next to the cab. I'm talking three inches long at the center. It had several smaller holes rusting through several places on wheel wells also. A drop in will kill you bed. If you want your bed to last, a spray in is the only way to go. I had a speedliner sprayed in for $450. Totally worth it.
