stock 20" wheel backspacing

Well, you would think that a 10" wide wheel with a 0 offset would have 5" of backspacing, wouldn't you. Except that wheel width is measured from bead mounting surface to bead mounting surface, and backspacing is measured to the back edge of the wheel. A 10" wide wheel is actually about 11" wide, because of the distance from the bead area to the edge of the wheel is about 1/2", on each side. So you can't do the direct math going from wheel width and offset to come up with backspacing, or you will be wrong by that 1/2" difference in where the wheel width and backspacing measurements are taken.
I got my 5.75" measurement from measuring my Laramie 20" wheels with a tape measure with the tires dismounted from the wheels. Just lay a straight edge across the back of the wheel and measure straight down to the wheel mounting surface, and it looks like 5.75" to me. It may actually be a metric measurement that is within 1 to 2 mm of 5.75", but I just rounded it to the closest english measurement.
