Did they have to drill any holes in the hood?

Too add, the painted surface on these sheilds are usually painted on the backside of the Lexan or whatever they are made of, so they shouldn't chip paint off. That's my observation.

I still want your boat, Inbred.
Is there a silver one on your truck, hard to see the pic, did you put it on, that is dealer correct?

Yes, there is one, you can see it in my albums a bit better. Not dealer installed, but Mopar non the less. I like it. seems to keep the bigger bugs off so far.

I need to get a bug deflector. On a trip to Chicago and back (to Iowa), I killed no less then 10,000 bugs with my windshield alone. I could barely see out of it. My grill looks like it growing hair or something from all of the bug carcasses.

Silly question:
(mark it down to never having a bug-shield and maybe overthinking the situation)

Other than deflecting rocks (and the Big Bugs) from hitting the first 2-3 inch of hood, does the Bug Shield really effect the number of bogs that splat on the windshield ??

At Freeway speeds, I can see the Bug Shield would generate a bit more upward airflow - and that might push gnats and mosquitoes up over the roofline. But, at least around here, it seems the bigger bugs are on Suicide Bomber Missions from angles that wouldn't be diverted by that little extra airflow. Or does it really have more effect than that ??

btw: What is the last thing that goes through a bug's mind when it is hitting the windshield ?? (Its ***... %^)

I can understand your question. Not sure exactly how it works, but you have the right idea as far as I'm concerned. I just know that I have less bigger bugs splating the windshield. Maybe they aren't hitting as hard or something, I don't know. Seems to keep cleaner. I'll let you know when I get back from MN fishing next week.

The air is diverted upwards in a stream and most bugs will follow the stream up and over the windshield. The big, heavy ones may not get picked up in the stream.

Normally, without it, the bugs follow the stream right into the hood.

Hey Inbred, I have the same deflector and to those asking it uses factory holes in the hood so no drilling or anything to mess around with
