Default Truck wouldn't start

I ran into a store for about 5 minutes came back out and the truck wouldn't start! It wouldn't even try to turn the engine over. Tried it about 5 times and then went back inside to call my wife since I forgot my cellphone. Came back out and it started - except that there was a bit of a delay between hitting start and when the truck started to turn over. Now the check engine light is on! Anybody have this problem yet? I'll make an appointment this week since I plan on using it next weekend to take the boat up to the lake.

I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago. I went in a store and came back out and it wouldn't start. I tried it severla times and it finally started but the check engine light was on. The next time I started it the light was off and I haven't had a problem since.

I tried the on-off-on-off-on sequence without starting the motor and with multiple different time spacing and couldn't see any information show up in the EVIC display. Did you mean acc-off-acc-off-acc? I haven't tried that combination yet.

My check engine light is still showing, but the truck seems to be working like normal now.

Did you actually try this in your 2009?

I did and it does not work. The service manual also has no information on any way to get codes unless one is to hook up a scan tool.

Did ya think we were gonna be able to get codes for free forever LOL Man I thought this would have happened a long time ago. It sucks, but I am sure we will get around it somehow, we always do so lets keep our chins up and wait.
I am wondering if this 09 is gonna be the last of the nice trucks.

Correct, key trick no longer works. The nice thing though, for the backyard mechanic scanners to get general codes are cheap now, relativly speaking.

Walmart sells them now.

Diablo can do it as well. If you are planning on getting one of those, don't get a code reader.

Default Dealer pulled loss comm codes

I took the truck to the dealer last night with the check engine light. When they got it in the morning the light was gone. They did pull some codes out though. Dealer paperwork quote:

"Found a few loss comm codes. PCM, ABS Lost Comm with IPM. Checked wiring and fuses at IPM. Found nothing out of order. Cleared codes. None came back. Problem is not active, unable to duplicate"

Also getting my tailgate cover replaced. I wish they would find a bit more of a perminate way of attaching it so it doesn't pop off so easy when your pulling something out of the bed of the truck.

My 09 truck did this to me today...Oh I was not happy. Same problem, it wouldnt do anything. I tryed both sets of keys & tryed the remote start just for the hell of it also with no luck. Then after about five minutes of trying & checking everything I hit the remote start again and it started then shut off then I put the key in and tryed then it started and has been fine since. Got the check engine light which now went off. Im gunna give the dealer a call tomorrow & have them check it out and see what error codes they can find. I no dodge has had problems with the Sentry keys on past models but dont no if this is what it is or if its a totally new issue. Also alittle FYI they changed the oil filter threads. The 09 trucks take a mopar #4884899AB. Found that out this morning after I had the oil out & filter off. They dont even put the filter part number in the book anymore.
