Default Fake O2 Sensor

Got my lift, tires, wheels, and fender flares all installed.... now for the exhaust. I'd like to gut out the cat. I did this with my last Ram and hooked up an O2 simulator. Anyone know about getting an O2 simulator for the '09s?? Im assuming it'd be different seeings how the sensors have change on the '09s.... What your guy's thoughts?

Can't help you, but would be interested in what you are trying to accomplish by doing so. My guess you would pretty much void your engine warranty and any resell value on the vehicle.

In order to make a simulator, you need to figure out the resistance of the rear O2 sensor under load, then wire in a resistor in place of the sensor.

But, I would not touch it. No cats = no warranty work. Plus, emissions tickets are expensive. Really expensive.

There are four O2 sensors. You will need to trick two of them, the rears. You need two resistors for each, one for the heat circuit and one of for the O2 circuit. Otherwise, you will throw codes.

The O2 sims work well if they make them for your specific application. I bought some for my Charger R/T which had high flo cats but the sims never did work, so something tells me there won't be any out yet for the Gen II 5.7 that would work either. You will probably just have to give it some time. I eventually tricked the O2 sensors on my Charger by putting in a couple of the anti fouler plugs which took the O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream. It worked just long enough to get the car to pass emissions then it was good to go.

Haha, well at least I have money. You don't appear to have either.... Mr 2wd SLT that apparently needs a 4x4 judging by the look of your signature picture...

Anyways, yes I know I'll mess with the emissions, I know it's there for a reason (too keep the tree huggers happy), and I know about the warranty.... Maine doesn't require a smog test so I dont have to worry about that (yet anyways). And frankly, I don't give a damn what Al Gore thinks about the "greenness" of my truck. There's enough twinks wabbling down the roads in Priuses to make up for any elments I put in the air with my truck.

I know that when i gutted the catty on my last Ram and put a fake sensor behind it I gained two mpg just from that... I'll burn a whole in the ozone above my house for that... So I just figured I'd see what I could find out... Didn't know I'd rile up a nest of tree huggers on here...

I don't think we are tree huggers, we are just trying to keep you from voiding your warranty.

I want you to do me a favor though. Go dyno it with the cats on, then dyno without them and tell us what the difference is. It should cost around 100-150$ for two dyno pulls.

Jv: as sarguy01 stated, we just are trying to point out that the warranty may be in jeopardy. At a 2mpg gain, it would not be worth it to me. But, hey, its your truck.

by the way, I'm not a tree hugger. I do respect the outdoors and go four wheeling respectfully.
