Transmission gear ratio??
I got one,
Anyone notice the shift between 2 and 3?? The ratio seems almost identical! WTH is the point of a 5 speed if two gears are almost identical??
Now this may or may not be more noticable on the smaller rear end choices but mines the 3.92 ratio.
Im almost thinking my transmission is screwy!

I had the "older" 545RFE in my 2004 Durango but it sure didn't feel like this. Ive pinned this truck (as to go through the gears....LOL) The gears are definitely not the same in the 2-3. Spec says it should be? I don't know just seems weird. Is it the 3.92s? I did have the 3.55's in the Durango.
At first under normal driving I thought it was just a torque conveter lockup thing but now that Ive manual shifted and driven it hard, it doesn't seem to be.

Holy crap. I've had the 545RFE auto on two 4.7 Dakotas and while it had a mind of its own and downshifted way too early under light loads, I found it it to be as good of an auto tranny as any I've had before.
Now I have a new 2009 CC Hemi 4x2 TRX 3.55 gears. Floor shift. Build date 3/2009 so it's been sitting on the lot for 9 months which is never good for any kind of rolling stock, or flying stock for that matter.
Only 65 miles since new and....
A block away from home, pulling away from a stop sign, the acceleration was way sluggish. Noticed the numeral "4" remained on in the little box below the odometer. (Does that indicate the actual gear the tranny is in?)
Pulling into my driveway the engine died. Would not re-start. Gear indicator showed an illuminated red "R" on the instrument panel, no matter where the shifter was positioned.
Hooked up my OBDII Scanner and it spit out the following trouble codes:
P0882 TCM Signal low
P0869 Transmission Fluid pressure high
P0846 Transmission Sensor B
P0871 Transmission Sensor C
P0876 Transmission Sensor D
P0988 Transmission Sensor E
After about a 30 minute wait, the engine started but the Check Engine light remained on.
In the few miles that I've driven the truck it never felt as though it was shifting correctly based on my experience with the same tranny in the Dakotas. But coupled up to the Multi-Displacement hemi, who knows.
Now the dealership gets to try and do it's magic.

Sounds like a power issue. TCM is starving for power therefore it go's into "limp mode" by remaining in 2nd gear (hence your sluggish accleration).
Hopefully you havent done anything with the electrical system (like command start and such) Ive had a couple remote starters installed off the IGN power line to the transmission come into the shop and its never good.
Possible bad alternator or battery. With this new of a truck it really could be anything as electronics tend to fail in the first few months or really not at all (until wear out etc..)
Don't worry your pbly not going to be without a truck for very long. BUT!!!!
Document the failure in your records and if you have any transmission issues in the future (Damage from this problem) your going to want ammunition for later if you catch my drift...

The tech at the dealership found an after market wire hooked directly from the positive battery terminal and routed (un-fused) through the firewall under the dash and some other issues with the fuse box. The salesman explained that the truck was purchased from another dealership and the wire could have been hooked up to an anti-theft device etc.
Boy you can say that again. The dealership replaced the truck with another one equipped exactly like the first. I've had good customer service from prior dealers re: my three Dodge trucks but this dealership went way beyond what I expected.
