Great video. You're one of the few to also show interior noise which is definitely a big deciding factor. I was on the fence about the 14 and 18. I knew the 24 wouldn't be worth it going off of Mufflex's rating systems for the 3 setups. I had two CJ's and one was pretty ridiculous and I always felt bad waking up everyone since I lived in an apartment complex at the time. My other CJ was just the right about of loudness; enough to hear and feel the power of the 304 but not so much that I felt like I was being an ******* to those around me. Thanks again for the video and your input!

Nice sounding exhaust. I want to get that muffler for my 2010 Hemi. However, as a few of you mentioned, the MDS makes for some sound issues. I had heard in the past that throwing an aftermarket exhaust on these trucks sounds like crap when it kicks into MDS mode. It sounded awesome when you were on the throttle, but how does it sound at cruising speeds with MDS kicked in? Does it really sound like crap when it switches from 8 to 4. I don't mind the hum of an engine, but if it sounds like a 4 cylinder with the muffler falling off, I may have second thoughts.

Unless I am really TRYING to hear it, i usually do not even notice the difference switching to MDS. Besides, if you are cruising light enough to activate MDS, the noise probably will be muffled by the road noise at that speed... and the difference in sound has never been enough to bother me. I have 17K miles on the muffler now, and it sounds as good as ever.

I installed my muffler and my CAI at the same time. So the increase was there... nothing real substantial it could be better but as soon as I installed both of those parts the sound was sweet so then I kept puttin the foot down for the sound.

I also installed the CAI when I installed the mufflex kit. I ended up taking it off because the drone was noticeably worse in-cab than with just the mufflex kit alone. I did a before and after fuel test, and the truck got 1 or 2 mpg more with the CAI and mufflex than with stock everything. I could also feel a quicker response with the CAI on, which I assume also meant a bit more HP though I never tested it with numbers. I am on the phone a lot while driving (network engineer) so could not leave the CAI on as the added noise was too much. It would prolly be nice for someone who likes more noise and loud radios though (in fact mine is sitting almost brand new in the box in my garage; someone could have it for half price or so... $150 plus shipping... if they were to ask nicely)

Just like others in the thread, I am looking to swap out my muffler to get better sound out of my truck. What type of muffler should I look at getting? Recommendations?

Well, having heard all 3 mufflex kits, I would recommend the 18 or 14. The 24 inch just isn't worth the bother. The 18" has a nice throaty upgrade, but is still modest enough to not **** off the neighbors unless you stand on the gas. The 14" is a nice growl for those who like the big noise (though the performance is very close between the 18 and 14).

So get the 18 or 14 depending on your noise preference.

With just the mufflex kit, not really (though for some reason I get better mileage when I have ESP turned off than leaving it on... go figure)

With the mufflex kit and CAI I saw an mpg or 2 increase (tested over a round trip of 280 miles, all freeway, cruise on 70, to another city I have to visit for work; 2 trips with stock, 2 with CAI+ Mufflex, 2 more with mufflex only). With mufflex only there was no noticeable difference.
