Default 4.7 tapping or ticking noise

I picked up my 09 ram 1500 with the 4.7 last week brand new and it seems when I am next to another driver or wall or even standing outside the truck I can hear an engine tap almost like a bad lifter. The mechanic told me it's normal that it was the oil solenoid. What do you guys think? is anyone experiencing the same problem? It's kinda annoying, it seems as if the engine has a million miles on it. Where is the oil solenoid and would it help if I changed it? Thanks in advance, Sal

I have a 4.7 also, but do not hear what you describe. Then again, this is coming from a guy who just traded a 99 Cummins in, and also drives/races a slant six car. Neither of those engines could be described as quiet...

Forgot to try to answer your question.
Does the sound increase/decrease with engine speed? If so, that would rule out the oil solenoid I would think. Never heard of one those before...then again, I am used to older cars more. Does it make the noise with the AC on or off? Could be the compressor kicking on and off.
