Thinking of selling my Mygig Ren need opinions.
Hey guys i didn't put this in the "for sale" area cause im wondering if its worth selling and need your opinions. Should i sell it and for how much? Is it better to get the lock pick or upgrade to an after market dvd system. What have you guys done?
I have been looking at the latest auctions on Ebay for a REN or and RER and funny on the REN's a few are asking like 100 to 150 but it won't recognize cd's? and they say just needs and update another the screen works intermittent but everything works if you have controls on your steering wheel. I have a philosophy and maybe it should be put someplace where more will notice this warning on this site http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_nav_2.htm#VEHICLES and go to the very bottom of the page it warns of removing the REN and another that is not US or Canada....it states yo ushould remove the fuse for the radio before take batt cables off.Are these guys who are switching them out for other radio having problems because they bought them from people who accidentally shorted out their radio. Here is the part if you don't want to read it all but this is a good site.
Hard Start/No Start Due to Weak Battery - This may be caused by the radio not powering down properly and keeping the communication bus awake causing a parasitic battery draw. Applies to 2008 vehicles equipped with a MYGIG radio (sales code REN, REP, RER, REW or REZ) built before February 8, 2008. See TSB 08-003-08.
MyGig REN or REZ Radio Inoperative After Battery Disconnect - When performing repairs that require battery cable removal, the feed fuse for the radio (20 or 30amp) must be removed prior to disconnecting or reconnecting the battery. Disconnecting and Reconnecting the battery can cause electrical spikes that may damage the MyGig REN or REZ radio. Removal of the fuse will prevent this from occurring. Applies to 2008-2009 vehicles equipped with a MYGIG radio (sales code REN or REZ). See TSB 08-003-09.

Wow, I've had my battery disconnected several times for a couple of things. Good thing I don't have one of those radios.
Althoug it doesn't apply to this radio, if someone is ever taking their REQ out to sell, be sure to put it in Transportation mode. It parks the CD changer for shipping to prevent damage. You turn the ignition to run and press the Set and Scan buttons together, within 5 seconds the screen says "Transportation".
