How many key fobs can one pocket fit? LOL We have the factory installed remote start, it must be 2 way cuz in beeps and the lights come on to let you know its running. At least I know they come on at night we have automatic lights but anyway it works from a good distance at least 75 feet so far. Maybe your batteries in the fobs are weak, who know how long those sit around in a box at the factory and well sometimes the factroies like to have table with bins and someone comes along and fills your bins or you do it yourself and the ones on the bottom never get used except on your truck. If it's under warranty and its not working well I would get new batteries from the dealer, they replaced mine once.

You'd just have to ask. It's my understanding that the factory remote start unit is plug and play, so it would stand to reason in my mind that aftermarket units would utilize the same method. The unit on my old explorer had a plug harness in the box (not sure if it was used though) but for aftermarket ones, there's just no telling without asking the salesman about that particular model. I doubt you would have any issues if they did have to splice into anything though. A lot of that electrical installation is pretty straight forward, especially for a reputable installer.
