Newbie Question
Hi everyone !
Just picked up my new 2009 Ram 1500 ST. Took advantage of the Cash 4 Clunkers program and gave up my 88 F150. First Dodge since 1978 !
Any way the truck is as basic as you can get one. Manual door locks, crank up windows and vinyl everywhere. I really am impressed with it even though it is a BASE model. They have come a loooong way since my last Dodge.
My question is ..... How many ignition keys should I have received with this truck ? All I got was one ignition key and one valet key .
The valet key will not start the truck of course so all I have is one key that starts it. I thought that to be rather odd. Did the dealer not give me one or do they only come with one of each ?
Thanks

Both my dad and I got 2 of the key fobs, which as you know are used in the ignition. Inside the key fobs there is a removable door key; there is a sliding button on the fob so when you slide it you can pull out the door key. We also both received one separate door key. That key looks just like the 3rd gen ignition keys.

Thanks,
This is a real basic truck truck and does not have key fobs.
No remote door locks just a key slot in the door and posts inside.
Nothing electric. I am still thinking I should have two sets of keys though.
I wonder where the other one is. Hmmmmm .
Can't reach the dealer anymore today.

Yeah, definitely bother them about that. Every vehicle that I've owned, minus the CJs, had 2 sets of keys. If they somehow lost the second key, I would ask them to program a new key for you. I read that can be done in the owners manual.
Definately check with the dealer. You should have two keys unless you only get one with the st which I highly doubt
