Default Box tie down ..seem very weak!

I used a ratchet strap to hold down 6 jerry cans and looped it through the handles to the tie downs on each side of the box and hardly started ratcheting and noticed the hoops are pulling inwards with the metal around it ...the salesmen made a point of these tie downs being extra strong ..i sure don't see it has anyone else noticed this ?

hauled my motorcycle to bike week and back in march, didn't have any problems or any unusual flexing of the bed or the tie down points. some flex is normal though. how much flex did you have, and how tight did you have your straps? i like to tie whatever i'm hauling down pretty tightly and haven't had any problems yet.

Same here, hauled my bike from near Houston to Austin and back tied down and didnt notice any problems. If I was to guess I would say your tightening down to much on those ratchet straps. I just use those simple locking pull straps to tie stuff down.

I work out of mine everyday, have not had a problem yet
Make sure you tighten down the adjustment screw?
