Hello everyone. I am new to this website, but have already found great use in it.

I have an 09 Ram 1500. It originally had the RES radio, but I bought the RER Mygig with NAV on ebay and installed it myself.

My question is, what is the power output per channel for the RER?
I do not have any speaker upgrage to my Ram, but I am thinking about either adding better 6x9's in the doors, or adding a sub, or both.

I have the fold flat floors, and don't want to remove these, but want to put the sub in only one half of the storage. Is there any kind sub box that will work for my configuration.

Does anyone have any ideas? What are the best kind of 6x9's out there? I just hope that my RER can power the new 6x9's.

Here's what I found on a mygig forum:

The MyGig radios are 66 watts by themselves.
16.5 Watts per channel/4 channels
Usually, the 2 rear speakers are each on a channel, and the front channels have 2 speakers per, with a filter or crossover for each channel. So you have 6 speakers on 4 channels.
You can add new upgraded speakers very easily. Go listen to different speakers and buy what sounds good to your ear. You are the one that will be listening to them not the salesman. Everyone has different likes. As for a sub...I am not sure if you can install one without removing all or part of the fold down floor. I have the under seat storage compartment and had to remove the lids.

 

Thank you for that info. But, WOW, only 66 watts, 16.5 watt per channel. That is very low. I wonder if aftermarket speakers will even get enough power. I guess they will. I just want something that bumps a little. Thanks again.

 

Factory decks always state their power rating as RMS. This power rating is very comparable to new aftermarket decks available. Peak power as stated by so many manufactures is actually a lie the amplifier is only sustaining that power level for milli-seconds. I could go on and on about the tricky math they use to make these numbers, but for your info always go by RMS power. Most manufactures will at least state it somewhere in their spec sheet.

 

Do you know if the front speakers are wired in parallel or series. I have an 07 ram with the MYGIG RER installed. I am wanting to add the dash speakers. Plan on adding them in series, but if the mygig can handle parallel, I will go that route.
