Newb, modification suggestions
Can you give us a little more info about it? Is it a V-6, what's the rear gear ratio? I can't hardly see the pic you posted but I did notice the wheels and they have to go. If it were mine I'd mod in this order knowing what little I do and assuming it's a V-6:
Window tint
Swap rear gears to 4.56
Level the front using spacers
Wheels and 33" tires
Drop in a Hemi <==I've owned the V-6 before

If money is tight, I'd consider painting the factory wheels black until new ones can be purchased. It will look good with black wheels since the mirrors, bumpers, & possibly the grille are all black. I'd also remove the badges.
im going to assume here... and i could be wrong..
but looking at the truck.. its a work model.. noooo options... bargain basement.
so im guessing if thats all the truck he can afford.. then gears and lockers and such will be out of the price range.
i do as said above if money is tight... paint the wheels black with spray paint... and get you some good all terrains.. like bfg..
sell the steps to help fund the tires
maybe get some spacers off ebay to lift it up a bit.... get you some tow straps and a shovel in case you get stuck and have fun on the trails

I'm not up to date on wheel styles as I'm not ready to by my own yet. I had black KMC Diesel wheels on my 06 Silver MegaCab and got positive comments on them all the time. Everyone likes different wheels so just take your time and search around for the perfect looking ones for you.
The rear gear is in the rear axle and controls the ratio of engine torque that is applied to the drive wheels. A lower ratio (4.56) will allow the engine to rev quicker and make the truck seem to have a lot more power than say a higher ratio of 3.55 which you more than likely have. A gear swap can be the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to seat of the pants power gains. It doesn't add power but it allows you to alter the way the power is delivered to the tires.
