With being in texas Id say dont worry about it. I dont think your going to need it for snow. If you want to offroad with it go with friends so they can tow you out when you need it.
It is doable but I would not look to swap everything over. You would need the front axle and half shafts, but you would be better off swaping in a manual shift NP243 instead of trying to wire in the electric shift.
