Default Changed radio and added uconnect

Well I think I may have wasted some money...........I changed my radio over to the MY gig and bought the uconnect module for it. Well turns out the radio was working fine except theunconnect has to be star scanned....They spent from 10 am to 5 PM and did and oil change I didn't ask for.
It was to get the HVAC recall, ABS recall, the MDS rrt, and undate my radio in the computer and star scan, and the same for the uncconnect I added. Well they charged me 50 to put in the radio and then printed on the receipt could not get unconnect working. and were gonna let my wife drive home without saying **** 60 miles or so. Lucky I called her and told her to push the button, so it was inop so backin she went and they spent from noon till 5 unable to get the uconnect to work...they told me 3 causes, bad radio, bad install, or bad module.....first question who installed it. Me..hmmmmmm we looks like my fault already. Then they were ready to charge me 2 hours...and it doesnt work....they split the diff. but I did not know my wife paid 52 already and they did an oil change I never aske for nor needed so that was free. I never asked for that. I don't know when the uconnect is not working anyone else ever come across this.

Did you get a REN or a RER I had the standard single CD (forgot the 3 letter designation) in my truck from the factory and purchased the uconnect module form a Dodge dealer on ebay. It was simple plug the harness in between the radio and the main truck harness then you had to mount the module on the passanger side on outer kick pannel by removing the lower glove box and run the mic to the driverside windshield pillar. I installed it and then took the truck to have some RRT work done and have them activate the uconnect took them 20 min and they charged me $10 to activate. The week after that I decided to purchase a REN from ebay (Came out of 2008 Grand Caravan) I removed my old radio plugged in the new one and it took about 5 min and the radio then recognized the uconnect so it is noit activated in the radio but in the truck onboard system and I have not returned to the dealer since and everyting works perfect including the satalite which I called sirius and told them that I needed to transfer my account to the new radio because the radio needed to be replaced becasue it was defective. If you want to let me know what you did to install it may be I can help or maybe if you put the stock radio in that came in the truck and take to the dealer then you can elimintate that, also if they actually did activate it and the radio is the issue then if you place the other radio in and let the truck recognize it then it should work.

Silly Questions:
Is your new MyGig a REN or RER ?? (Or other??)
Where did you acquire your MyGig ?? (Dealer or eBay/Craigslist??)
Are you sure it has the high-speed CANBus ?? (vs older models low-speed)

I post this as a resource for most MyGig "need help" threads:
Unofficial MyGig site

sorry to hijack this thread but I am looking to buy a highspeed mygig radio for my truck and was wondering....is it just as simple as unpluging the old radio and pluging the new one in? I'm not adding any new features like uconnect I just want it for the color screen. I currently have the standard radio with sirius. From what I have read it seems to be just a plug and play deal and then call sirius to transfer your account to the new radio, is this correct?

Yes, If you get an REN. I didn't have to call and transfer sirius, i believe the box is external in the RES + REN, but if you switch to an RER you will need to call because the sirius tuner is internal.
