Default Air bag light on, horn does not work, EVIC buttons unresponsive, etc...

Hey all,

Got into the 09 Ram tonight, fired it up and noticed the air bag light stayed on. After a closer look, it seems as if the all the steering wheel controls are dead. The radio controls on the back of the wheel are unresponsive, the horn does not work and the EVIC buttons on the front of the wheel are unresponsive. Wipers, turn signals and cruise control work just fine.

Any clues what this might be?

The cause of the problem was the wiring harness behind the air bag, commonly called the "clock spring" becuase it resembles one. This harness is used by most steering wheel mounted controls. All is good now.

Default Cost?

Hey, I have an 01 Durango and have the same issue. Is that something that I can fix or do I need to bring it to the dealer? Also, how much did it cost you to fix it?

You can fix it yourself, but if it's anything like the Jeep clock springs, they are over $100 just for the part.
