Default Dealer oil change?

Took my truck to the dealer for an oil change yesterday. Wanted to try Royal Purple, so I took the oil with me. Put my truck in the garage last night and noticed that my oil was still in my truck. Now do I assume they used their own oil and I got a cheap oil change (only charged me & 17.95), or do I assume they didn't and call & bitch? Opinions would be appreciated.

Did you ASK them to use your oil? I would assume they used theirs if you didn't specify use yours.

If you're going to go through the expense of purchasing the oil, why not just do the oil change yourself? It takes all of 15 minutes.

I don't change my own oil and haven't in years.Nasty grunt work.LOL. I supply my own oil/filter.I'd sooner pull heads off a engine then do my own oil change or tire rotation.Oil changes are messy and you got to dispose of it etc.

I would say they charged you for a oil change with using your oil , and the person who did the oil change must have forgot to use your oil, because just by what they charged you for the oil change (17.95) there is no way they charged you for oil. I think my dealer get 33 bucks or more for an oil change.

Fresh oil from a change should look clean on the dipstick for awhile so just check the oil on your dipstick. If it's dark like it would be after running it for a couple thousand miles then call and get a refund.

Thanks for the replies. I called the service manager and he said they used their oil. he said they (he and the tech) didn't see on the order where it said to use my oil, so they used theirs. I'll check the dipstick to be sure but I think I got a deal.
