Question Oil Pressure Question

I just changed my oil again, but this time it looks like the oil pressure is a little low at idle and I can't seem to get the change oil message to stay away.

At idle, when warm, the reading is 23-27PSI, and when I get on it some it goes as high as 50-60, which seems normal.

The dipstick is showing the oil level is good and I put in 7 quarts like normal. I even seeded the filter with oil.

Is this normal? I remember the pressure being higher at idle on the last oil change, but maybe the motor had cooled off more because it took me a good 40 minutes to get the oil filter off.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Edit: I put in Mobile 1 5/20 and a puralator pure one filter.

I'm not sure, mine seemed low too, but haven't looked in a while. Sorry I didn't have the answer you wanted. I seem to remember though, that mine was around 30 at idle after warmed up.

The next day after I bought mine I was on my way back to have my bedliner put in. While stopped at a redlight I went to the oil pressure display, saw 25 psi and just couldn't beleive it out of an engine with only 75 miles on it. Went straight to the salesman when I got to the dealership and told him that 25 psi was way to low for a new engine. I told him the last engine I rebuilt had 40-45 psi at idle after warm up. He said he'd check on it while they put the bedliner in. He came back in about 5 minutes with a print out showing min to max oil pressure. If I remember right it was 10 or 15 psi for the min. and around 60-65 max. you figure the more clearance now than what they used years ago plus oil as thin as water and a 195 degree thermostat. Ain't gonna be alot at idle.

Thanks for the response guys. It actually makes sense what you are saying about clearance and the texture of the oil. This morning I checked it before I headed out and it was 45psi when it was cold, which seemed pretty normal. Still has plenty of power and the oil level is holding with no leaks, so I ain't going to worry about it.

From the service manual.

At Curb Idle Speed (MIN) 4 psi
@ 3000 rpm 25 - 110 psi

* CAUTION: If pressure is zero at curb idle, DO NOT run engine.

Thanks for that. That seems real low, but if the service manual says that then it must be right??

Service manual is the best bet.

Just remember, as long as you can prove the oil changes and used the correct oil, we have a lifetime warranty.
