In looking at the Dodge site, the Laramie's and SLT's all should have a power sliding rear window, so I am not sure how some of you ended up with the solid rear window on those models. It does say you lose the defrost option for the rear window if you get the sunroof or the rear entertainment system with the Sirius BackSeat TV.

Now, my understanding from the Dodge site is no factory sunroof models can have the rear defroster. What on your truck leads you to think you have the rear defrost? My thinking is this: You see the "rear defrost" in the center od the right side rotary ****. Mine has this too, but I think when activated, it only turns on the heated side mirrors since my truck has the sliding rear window and sunroof. I think that all of you with a sliding rear window or a sunroof should look to see if you have the actual lines in the rear glass like those shown here:

If you don't I do not think you have a rear defroster, since the only other method I know of is a heated blower, which my old late 80's BMW convertible used for the plastic rear window. I think some of you are just confused by the button on the dash.

Here's the Rule as I see it: No lines like in the pic, NO REAR DEFROST. If someone here has a sliding rear window and the lines like those shown, post a pic. Otherwise you do not have a rear defroster.I do not think it's practical to have a sliding rear window and defroster except on setup like Toyota uses with a single piece rear window that moves up and down as a single unit like a side window.

You are abolutely right, I didn't even think about it, nor do I have to go check. The defrost button is for the heated mirrors.

Can somebody explain to me what having a sunroof has to do with the rear window. The way I read it above, I can't order a sunroof and a solid rear window with a defroster. Not sure what one has to do with the other.

In reality it has nothing to do with it and not sure if its the case for the Ram. If it is I would assume its because there is something included in some "cold weather package" that interferes with something in the "sunroof package".

I am not sure myself. It's the same way with the Backseat TV. You can't have it if you have the rear window defroster and vice versa, but I can't figure the "why" out.
