Question "Wheel Shake" getting worse...any updates?

I have noticed over the past 1k miles (I'm now at 11k) that the wheel shake is worsening. It occurs regularly now between 60 - 75 mph.
Has anyone discovered anything out about possible causes or solutions?
I don't want to take a day off work to take it to the dealer (25 miles away) and have them tell me there's nothing wrong. I know there's a RRT for possible flat spots on the Goodyears, but I haven't run them for about five months now. It has done it with the stock wheels and with my summer tires and wheels (Rich Evans Designs 22" with Sumitomo 305 45 22's. I have them balanced and rotated religiously every 3k miles. There balanced perfectly before going back on the truck. I stand and watch them do it. Any insight or suggestions on where to go from here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1) Check the runout on the rotors.
2) Jack up one front wheel at a time and give them the shake test to see if you have worn balljoints
3) Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you look at the rod ends to see if there is a bad one.

Huge rims are going to put more stress on the stock components. If the dealer finds worn suspension parts, I wouldn't expect them to replace them.

Took my truck to the dealer a couple of weeks ago and they checked the balance and it was fine. So they take it to a place that does road force balancing and they said it helped the problem somewhat. It wasn't even covered under warranty but they paid because they balanced the wheels prior to my visit.
It didn't help it, they told me it was the tires fault and that I would have to buy new tires to fix it. They also said 20" wheels cannot be balanced well. I guess what I'm saying is that the dealer won't help you most likely.

I have a plan though, my brother has an 09 sprt with stock 20's. I'm going to switch them with mine and show them that its not the tire or wheels fault. His truck doesn't have this problem yet.

Balancing big wheels and tires with external weights doesn't work very well. Might be time to invest in some dyna beads if you think the issue really is out of balance tires.
I run these in the 35" mud tires on my jeep - with big heavy steel rims and bead guards, and they actually balance.

Got new cooper htplus tires from pepboys,275 60 20.Took a ride up state, bad wheel shake 55 to 70mph.Took back to pepboys, they reballanced all four tires, nogood, told me my rims were out of round. A new shop opened 5mins from my house, has all new Hunter road force machines.Rebalanced all four tires,no more problems.

Hey all, I was plagued with the EXACT same issue, without really recapping the nightmares i had with the dealer, i took it to a different dealer and they told me i had a bad rim and put it on the rear, they ordered a new one and they are on backorder...very strange. Now its completely different..no shimmy. I bet its the problem, rotate your wheels and see it changes, maybe you can pinpoint it that way. I just know for rims to be on backorder already its a little out of the ordinary.

Not to shocking to me. Inventory levels were LOW. They had to be cranking out the new trucks on the lines pretty hard recently. My dealer just got about 25 trucks in.

If you have aftermarket wheels on - did you remove those clips that the factory installed to keep the rotors in place. The factory wheels clear these clips - aftermarket ones often do not.

Taking mine in Monday to have them look at some potential problems.

1) I'm getting a rhythmic noise and slight vib starting around 35 mph.
2) I'm getting a popping noise from the brake pedal on occasion.
3) The driveline thump when I come to a stop. (Adviser said this was probably normal).

Mine is a stock Sport with the 20s and 8500 miles.

Default Took it to the dealer.

Took it in for a balance and rotate. It helped minimally. Shake is still there.

While there they checked rotors...Fine.
Ball joints...Fine.
Rod ends...Fine.
Yes, the rotor retainer clips were removed.
Thanks for your combined ideas. I'll keep plugging away at this.

I took it in yesterday to the dealer, at this point the tech saw wheel shake and felt the strong vibration where he was seated. He verified there is indeed a problem and that I wasn't crazy.

When we were out on a test drive the shake appeared to be more prevalent when MDS kicked in...and went away when I would accelerate. He believes it could be a harmonic related to MDS. Anyway, I will take it in next week and they are going to get into it for me.

Here in Utah we currently hit 80+ during the day and drop to 45 at night. Wheel shake is much more noticeable in the mornings now its colder.

I appreciate everyone's input on this thread and another because I referred to them while talking with the tech. I also related that several others were experiencing the same problem.
