Default Guidelines for "Price Check" threads?

Do you think it should be requested that people replying top price check threads post up all of the info to avoid any confusion? I personally thingk there are variables that make it very difficult to genuinely compare these prices. First off there are trades, which are the hardest to compute since dealers can show you a larger discount on the new vehicle if you are willing to take less for the trade. This makes me leery of trusting any price quote if there was a trade involved. Also sales tax can be a huge price swing factor. In my state we have a $300 cap on sales tax, so compared to a state that has a 8.5% non capped sales tax rate, there could be a nearly $4000 price advantage on a $50000.00 purchase. This is huge. I think there should be some sort of guidelines, if only to assist people who are doing the asking with getting the most accurate numbers possible. I think the pricing should be listed without any sales tax (since it's non-negotiable and for the reason I mentioned above) and if there is a trade involved it should be mentioned to allow people who are like me to discount the validity of the pricing quote. I also think it should be stated that people do not give the price including cash they put down. For some reason someone will give a price quote, but will then mention they put $5000 down to get to that price, and that's not correct. I think in order to be as helpful as possible to potential buyers we should give the most "apples to apples" advice and info possible. If I am being too "nit-picky" I apologize.

You have a very good point. I left out sales tax, trade, etc, whenever I discussed my truck's price.

I have an early build 2009 TRX-4. I bought it in Feb 09.

Sticker was 38,xxx I got it for 27,xxx. I then added my trade, no money down, financed it, etc.

I think all that should be mentioned is the sticker price (+ the cost of any dealer add-ons and warranty) and the price negotiated before tt&l.
