I have used one side for a party we had a few months ago for that purpose. It works great although I should have left the drain plugs in until the ice melted since I think it would have made the ice last longer (admittedly it was hot and the door was left open the whole time in the sun). We are having a grand opening for my store shortly and weather permitting will have a catered on site BBQ trailer and will use it again for drinks (hopefully customers will be careful and not scratch my paint!!)

There was still ice at the end of the party (just used a hose to accelerate the melting of what was left and it flushed out the bottom drains). It's certainly not as good as true insulated cooler would be, but leaving the lid open with the sun beaming down did not help. There was not tons of ice left like I imagine there would be if I had used a good coller (or kept the lids closed).
