Best gears for towing
3.92 is what you can get from the factory and that should give you all the gear you need to pull the heaviest trailer that your truck is equipped for, which is about 8500 pounds, without much of a problem
I've been interested in having mine swapped as well. I have the same setup and the truck feels dog slow off the line. Plus, I'd really like to have the lsd going into winter.
Will changing this out void the warranty, or will the dealership put in a factory lsd with 3.92s? I can't seem to get an answer from my local dealer.

The warranty will be affected .The gears installed and warranty on labor will then only be as good as if it was a in shop repair YOU were paying for.It alters the equipment/vin number etc. There will be no LLIFTETIME or FULL powertain warranty through Chrysler on the replacement gears or labor OR if the install causes OTHER issues. This makes perfect since to me and has been hashed and discussed elsewhere and maybe on this site before. If done correctly the chances of a problem are slim but if NOT a factory REPAIR with same ratio gears YOU are assuming responabilty.3.92 is the lowest I would consider on a 2wd ith stock size tire height. You'd HATE 4.56

I have the 3.92's in my truck with the 4.7 and I have absolutley no problems towing my 4,000lb boat. Take off is great and cruising speed is good. Also the nice thing about the 3.92's is your mpg's on the freeway will still be okay. I average 20 mpg plus on the freeway. I am a two wheel drive truck as well. Also I would look into getting the stock gears and the locker if you are concerned about the lifetime warranty and have the dealer put them in. It might be pricey but they will be warrantied. If your not worried about the warranty then look around this site, I saw a guy who was selling his stock 3.92's because he upgraded. Just my 2 cents.

You also have 35" tires. The original poster has stock sized tires on a 2wd. 4.56 would be terrible with that combination.
The 20" wheels also hurt towing because of the added weight and increased rotational mass.
I would get 17's and 3.92's if you are looking to tow heavy with a stock tire size.
But then again, if you need to tow that heavy you should have bought a 2500.
