I've power soaped/washed mine twice so far, no problems. If there is later, warranty...

Oosik,

Thanks for asking this! I was getting ready to post this same question. Mines gotten pretty dusty and I want to clean under the hood! Had a Durango for 11 years, 145,000 miles and I'd just wash under the hood with a light spray (water hose). Simple Green sounds like a good idea as well. Never had any problems.

You might want to take a drive down the freeway after doing this to dry everything up under the hood. Just to get rid a any left-over moisture.

Thanks

Another thing that works well is 409. After you rinse that off try some tire cleaner under the hood. Ever wonder why the engine is always so shiny when you buy a used or new car? Spray it and leave it. Do not spray the belt!

I live in Houston too and I'm pretty particular with cleaning under the hood. I usually use Dawn dishwashing soap and a rag and scrub it down by hand. Takes a while, but the results are awesome.

I usually do it about every month to stay on top of it, but I don't have a CAI so there isn't any worry about exposed stuff.

I too live in Houston, the finish 2001 doesnt hurt the rubber parts or the plastic, and the shine is great,it gets into all the crevices.
