You may not want the ram box ,when you here what I notice. Was looking at the ram box ,at a dealership. When I lifted the lid of the ram box,I could hear water splashing around inside the lid. They brag that the ram box is water tite, but they let water get into the hollow part of the lid.My concern is in cold areas where that water would freeze and split the lid.The dealer said he just notice the problem that day,but had no fix.

I've had my rambox truck now for 6mos. Never had water in the lid or in the box. Just about everything built on an assembly line will have a few bad ones now and then. The fix would be simple. Remove the black plastic and silicone around each are where the plastic attaches, then silicone the perimeter just far enough in so the silicone didn't squeeze out. I also have experience with replacing an 09 purchased in Nov 08 with a rambox purchased in April 09. I love the rambox option and 6mos later and glad it did it. You will never recover the cost of swapping no matter if you trade or just get the bed. I lost about $10 grand trading in, the total for swapping the bed only in my area would have been $5-7 grand via the dealer. You would not recover much by selling the existing bed. I suspect you will have to wait quite a while for that new rambox bed to show up also. If you do swap beds, you should have your old bed converted to a small trailer or even install a camper on it and deck it out inside for camping. Imagine you have a trailer that is an exact match for your truck! At anyrate, my point is that if you're just thinking it would be cool to have the rambox, make sure you can afford the loss because you will loose money. Getting the rambox after the fact was important to me because we used to pull a trailer with a bunch of 4 wheelers on it and I kept all my tie downs, hitch equip, etc in the ram boxes. At least that was until some bastard stole my trailer with 3 of the toys on it. I have one 4 by left and a small trailer so still have use for the rambox, but probably would not have spent the money for just one 4 wheeler. This is my opinion only, you will have to make the decission yourself. I agonized over it for months before doing it and I was still shocked at how much it cost me. Jeff.

It looked to me to be a design flaw, not just one bad one.Add silicone to a new truck. The problem should be fixed on the assembly line, which you know may never happen. Are you sure that you just didnt notice water in your lid,you have to listen carefuly. Why no ram box for Q.cab? It would also be nice if the dealer would show more concern.I know they will sell that truck to someone, without telling them ,they will need to silicone there new truck before winter.

mcs, my silicone fix was for the dealer that said he didn't have a fix. You state one truck that you saw with water in the lid and I think a few others here have mentioned having water in thier lids or the box itself. I agree with you if there is a flaw the dodge needs to fix it at the line. And no, I have no water in the lid. I've power washed it, been through the drive through car washes, and driven it in hard driving rain. No water to date. I check it regularly because of the few people on this forum that have mentioned it, but do far I haven't had the problem. Also, I would not let water in the lid keep me from buying a rambox if I wanted it. As I stated before it can be fixed and if it requires silicone then that should be something the dealer should be willing to do, not sell you the truck and then tell you to silicone it. I can't answer your question on the rambox for the QC, but what a great way to force someone who wants a rambox to move up to the CC. Maybe a marketing ploy, or maybe they wanted to see what the demand would be first before committing to ramboxes on all the models. I'm not sure why you couldn't get a rambox on any of the models. I know a guy that's waiting for them to make a CC longbed 4x4 diesel w/rambox. I think he may be waiting for a long time. I know chevy used to only offer the short bed in the half ton truck, but a friend of mine decided he wanted a 3/4 ton SB so he bought a 3/4 ton truck removed the LB cut the frame down to SB demensions and installed a SB from the junk yard. Then turned the LB into a really nice trailer that I used when I went hunting in NM one year. At anyrate, we agree on dodge fixing any water infiltration problems at the factory, but for those that got shipped and leak, the dealer is an idiot if they can't figure out how to correct it. Jeff.

I have never had water in my lids and we have had a ton of rain this summer/fall. I have not even seen the complaint that you mentioned on the forum, although I certainly do not see every thread. I have, however, seen many posts about roof leaks (some sunroof related, some not). The end result is that I love my rambox option and would not have the truck without it. I think that is the general consensus among Rambox owners. It seems about 95% of the naysayers are people who don't have the Rambox, which seems idiotic, but somehow appropriate since people seem to need to justify that they made the right choice in NOT choosing an option.

I have the rambox, have no water and love the boxes. However, I can see a problem with leaking box caps for the few owners who had a problem with the warped caps. Being mine also. My trucks right box warped in the heat and stayed slightly up which may be an area where water could get into a seam. Chrysler is on it and replacing my entire lid...not just the cap.

The boxes are not for everyone that is for sure. I heard one member say they were ugly. Hmmm....okay. I guess I can say the long beds are flimsy and the shorty's are useless. No real point I guess. I have had a few compliments and have noticed ZERO other ramboxs in my area yet. The OP said he has seen many in his area....which is right around the corner. Will look harder I guess and carry conversations about issues in the future.

Has anyone seen a 2010 with rambox? It isn't on 'build and price'. Is it still available?
