Towing question
I never thought of that!! Good call!! Makes perfect sense...
6100 sounds amazingly light for a 35 footer. What model do you have if I may ask. I've been looking hard for the past month trying to find the most spacious one I can with a dry weight somewhere around or under 6700. So far it's been mostly 26-28 footers. Haven't been real impressed. And what all do you put in there to get almost 1900 lbs of cargo? I calculated about 350lbs for fresh water and maybe a couple hundred pounds for clothing, food items, etc... but always wondered if people ever maxed the capacity ratings in the 2000lb range.
If yours is the same as his cc - 5.7 - 3.55's - 20's then the spec for 2009 was 6,100 lbs. However, I beleive the new spec I read was for 7,400. Atleast for the 4X4, which mine is. 4X2 may get you more (or less) IDK. Should be in that range though.
I think 4x2's haul about 250lbs more than 4 wheel drives.

I am not sure about these stats.. but they are from Motor Trend.
I also think they rate it lower than it can really pull just to be safe. How many of you use regulare sockets on impact guns if you are stuck and don't have the right size so we just use a regular socket and it works no problem. I always over use my tools and they handle it no problem. So I think it's a similare deal.
I just wish I got the 3:92 gears, I would have though a sport version would automatically have it........what do I know. For 390 HP slug out of the hole.355's
What else should I do with 390 HP and all that torque? Drag race in 4wd?
Now if you are towing a trailer and you get pulled over by the DOT or MOT whatever they are called in your area do they weigh you trailer and check you towing capacity and stuff. If you have air bags in your springs would that be acceptable or would you have to prove how much that helps? Or do you even get bugged by them and or do you have to pull into those truck stops on the highways?

From what I know they do not check your vehicles towing capacity. I checked into this before towing with a 3/4 ton with loads twice its tow rating. They weigh the trailer axels to see if they're within their capacty. Then they check the drive axle on the truck to see if your over the trucks weight rating.
I drive a 3500 SRW cummins with a 20k dual tandem trailer. The trailer weighs 6000 empty so I can haul around 15k on the trailer comfortably. While this is over the tow rating the axel weights are legal as long as I keep enough weight off the truck to keep it under its 9900lb GVWR but keep enough off the trailer to keep it under its 20000lb rating.
Of course this is with a heavy duty truck, they may approach a 1500 differently while its sitting on its bump stops.
Its a toss up whether you stop at a weigh station. I've heard about guys passing them up and getting chased down and I've heard them going through and getting laughed at. The main rule I hear is that if you not a commercial vehicle then don't stop.

I was looking at the ad for the 2010 Ford F 150 um if I am reading correctly it has a lower tow capacity than the Dodge....only 5100 to 5300 lbs. towing capacity for the Ford. I believe ours are up to like 7400 are they not?
Thanksfor the advice...makes sense if you are not commercial don't stop.
