Default For those of with RER Nav..question

My first outing today with the RER that I used it.

I noticed when you are manually typing in a POI on the on screen keyboard the system pauses after each letter you push. In other words you CAN NOT type fast. It is a little frustrating.

Is this normal.

If it is not, what software are you running.

I am running the new 2.043 software.

thanks

Anyone every use Chrysler's RB1 Nav head unit? Try it out and you won't be complaining about the address entry speed any longer.

I believe the reason it pauses after each letter entry is because it is filtering only available street names for the area you are searching in. For instance, if you entered the zip code 45324, and start typing Hazel Street, after you type 'Haz' it will filter the results and realize there is only one street in zip 45324 that starts with 'Haz' and it will complete the spelling for you. The filtering of results is the reason for the delay. I rather like this feature. It prevents me from typing in streets that it won't be able to find.

I rented a Kia minivan this weekend in Chicago with factory nav. I was impressed with how well it worked. For the little time I had it it seemed to work much better than my RER. The voice was choppier but the nav was dead on and the user interface blows ours away. I can't believe it's that much better on a Kia!!

The RER unit is getting pretty old! Most $200 units like Garmin and TomTom blow away the RER Nav unit.
