Default New truck exhaust problem

We have no serious concerns about our new Laramie; we love the ride and the whole d..m vehicle. BUT, we did just experience a serious problem with our exhaust system.

Two weeks ago I noticed the passenger side exhaust sagging. Took it to dealer who reattached clamp to the frame. My dear wife then drove off one day last week, then called, telling me the muffler had failed and the truck sounded very loud.

Returned truck to dealer who told me NONE of the exhaust clamps or seals were fastened properly; technician checked them all and tightened them. Stated the exhaust had separated from muffler. Fixed same under warranty

Now I must admit to not being much of a mechanic. In fact, I know pretty much next to nothing. I drive my truck and have someone else do all the needed work. But I am kind'a curious about how this could happen. I mean, do you think the guys on the line took a break during final assembly, came back and forgot where they were and didn't do the seals and clamps? How else could this have happened?

Thanks to all who take the time to reply..........

Even if that were the case it still should have been caught by the qc guys doing all the final inspections. However, as with any mass produced item, things happen. Just the nature of the beast. I would be inclined to thoroughly look the truck over now if it were mine though. Just to see if anythng else seemed hinky since the other stuff was already missed.

Like your avitar BTW

Any signs of a wrench being on any fastener bolts.I could imagine someone attempting to steal it.They are pulled and replaced 'at home' without out much fan fare sometimes.Even LOOSE that stuff usually has a pretty darn tight fit.
