Has anyone ever heard or know if it's possible to upgrade from the standard HVAC controls to the dual zone capable controls? I have a rider (a.k.a. wife) who freezes to death! I wish I had just went ahead and bought the Laramie now so she could run her temp up without burning me up!

 

It requires a different HVAC unit behind the dash and I'm pretty sure the wiring harness is different. Keeping a blanket on her side would be much much easier and cheaper.

 

yeah i think there are alot of other components besides just the controls to make it work. after the headache and installation and all, you may be better off trading yours in and paying the difference.

 

Do what I do and just close all the vents on my side, works like a charm.

 

Wife or truck? If she's like mine, she'll find something else to complain about.

well, now that u mention it, put her in the bed with he dog and she may just grow a new appreciation for the cab, no matter what the temp.

 

A plug in ceramic heater ought to do the trick.

 

I asked the service department that same question when they were replacing the a/c head module (recall). I asked if they could install the dual zone control instead of the standard and I would just pay the difference. He told me if requires much more than a control change. The air boxes are completely different. The dual zone uses a completely different air handler with alot more doors inside. He told me it is a very expensive system to change out.

 

I've said it before (many times in my head); shoulda got the Laramie. Money well spent IMHO. Love this truck. For now, I don't want what others have.
