It really does keep the leading edge of that aluminum hood from getting rock chips and dents. I've got the same one, sure they are ugly - but functional.

Get the one from the dealer the colour of the truck, you barely see it, there is a silver one on here that has one. I have one at the dealer in black that I ordered but since they pissed me off I am not gonna go buy it. They take a clear one and paint the back and no chips.

Well, I hate to say it but the truck definitely looks better without it. But they really work so it is hard to recommend that you take it off. I have always had them on other trucks and they look decent on Fords and Chevys, but not so good on our big honking nose of a front end. I wish they would make a "smaller" one that just fits over the upper front end of the hood and not drop down to the headlights. Anyway, despite knowing that they help, I think I'll spend the money and go with the clear mask film like I had on my Range Rover as it worked great but you couldn't see it.

I have the mopar one color matched to my truck (stone white) and you can barely tell it's there, the whole thing is painted not just the back, and it only goes over the high part of the hood at the front, and not down over the edges.... I can try to get pics up if anyone is intesested.
