Default Remote Start Quirk

I started my truck with the remote stater, opened the door and threw a rev (key was not in ignition) and the engine shut off and the EVIC read:
Remote Start Aborted - System Fault.

Is this a quirk on my truck or is this the norm?

I've never noticed a rev but I have had mine turn off and give me that same message if the fuel level got too low. I guess it is a guard against running it out of fuel while idling.

not sure what you mean.
did you throw it in reverse, or rev the gas?
either one will turn it off; just like if someone was trying to steal it.

mine did that a couple of times about six months ago. I disconnected the battery and reset the computer.... it has worked perfect ever since.

To "throw a rev" is to rev the engine. You can't put the truck in reverse without the key in the ignition and turned on or one "click".

I will try it with mine when I run to the buger joint in a couple hours. My guess, hitting the gas before putting the key in would kill the engine, much like pressing the brake before putting the key in should also kill the engine. Security measure.

Mine does it as well. As I said, not a "problem". It is a security feature.
