Anybody got an 09-10 RC Ram with the Hemi?
Anybody got an 09-10 Ram RCSB with the Hemi? Was wondering if what I'm hearing is true. I heard that the RCSB Ram's with the new Hemi are running mid 13's in the 1/4 mile. Anyone know if this is true?
I know this isn't my section, I'm a 3rd Gen myself, but I'm thinking about trading mine in for an 09-10 RCSB. Only if there as fast as I'm hearing. Supposedly there is a big difference between the 08 Hemi Ram and the new one. My friend's got an 08 with the Hemi and several bolt on's and is getting smoked by stock 09 Hemi's. Which was surprising to me.
So, just wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of this.
Thanks

That's what I have been hearing. I just wanted first hand info to see if it was true. Thanks. I'm thinking that 426 "plug and play" Hemi will work just fine to give you 09 Hemi guys a good run for your money. LOL. It's gonna be a while before that goes in. LOL.
A 426 would be awesome but expensive, as you know it aint gonna just bolt in. Further, after all that time and expense, you would have an engine with only 25 or so more HP than an 09 Hemi and considerably heavier.
Yeah, the one from Mopar is just that, not that much more powerful than the new Hemi. However there are several performance engine building companies that are taking the 426 FI platform and building monster motors out of it. I've seen base numbers, (they won't even post dyno numbers), that are around 650. That's with ported and polished heads. But, yeah, I'm definitely planning on it in the future, whether that be near or 20 years from now. LOL.
I've about got the 4/6 drop done on my Ram, in preparation for the "Pro Street" style I'm going with for the truck. Still got a lot of stuff to get done, before she's even close to being done. For now she will stay looking "Pro Street", but when she's done she will be a full interior'd twin turbo'd Big Block Hemi havin, 9 sec 1/4's, beast! Why? Just because. I'm going for the impossible, the original truck. Something not too many people have. Call me crazy. I know I could build a fox body'd mustang that'll run 9's for a fraction of the cost of doing this truck, but that's been done already.....and way to often I'm afraid. LOL!
In case anyone's interested there are several performance motor building companies that offer two different engines with the 426. One a side note, all the 426 is is a 6.1L platform stroked out. So techincally it's not even a big block, i guess. But anyway, they build two engines with different compression ratios. One is a high compression model, for you guys who are wanting to stay with a N/A motor. Now, for all you forced induction guys, like myself, they do offer a model with a very blower/turbo friendly 8.5:1 compression ratio. Both models offer the same HP one is just forced induction friendly. LOL.
So, as an update, I got the 6inch drop done in the rear, and am waiting on the drop sprindles to complete the front 4inch drop. Tax return time comes the next set of fun parts, the tubs for the rear, fiberglass tonneau cover, stereo upgrade, a bunch of painted parts, new tires and probably wheels, and if I can find an axle at a good price I'll get that too. I originally wanted a Dana 60, but in lieu of the fact that they are very heavy, I'm gonna commit a huge sin and get a Ford 9inch, just because they are just as strong but half as heavy. So, there you have it. Just in case anyone was wondering how the build was coming along. It's gonna be a long ride, and an expensive one too.
