Question ESP Off

I did a thread search in regards to turning the ESP completely off, rather than just lowering it's sensitivity by pressing the ESP button on the center dash.

The most common tip I noticed is to disconnect the plugs at each wheel and install a relay or jumper to keep an error message from flashing up. One person did post a question regarding the effects on the Anti-Lock brake system.

I read in the manual that to turn off the ESP function simply press and hold the ESP button while at a stop for 5 seconds. The ESP dash indicator will still come on but a message should come up on the display. Has anyone else read, seen or tried this step? I have and nothing like the manual describes happens.

I have done it in 4x4 and it came up with the display telling me it was off, but when I was playing in the mud I noticed it was not completely off.

there was another thread to turn it completely off by some strange method of turning the wheel one way, holding down a button, turning it the other way and holding the button and so on...

yes confirmed. it will ONLY turn completely off in 4wd. other than that its partially off.

which is usually good enough to do a little spinnin. i think some guys have overridden the system by holding the key.. search for that...

Anyone try this? Scroll down and it's described as the 'hokey pokey' method.

In 4wd, you can turn it completely off by holding it in for 5-7 seconds. When I took my truck to the dunes the traction control never went off. That also works for most of the other manufacturers trucks too.

Yeah I also turned it off in 4wd and it still wasn't completely off. The key trick is the only good way I know of.

You have to be in 4WD Low Range for it to be completely off, or nearly completely

yeah 4wd when it says completely off is not true. the gumbo and stuff up here the truck gets stuck so fast. just ridiculous. my 06 never had the problems in snow or mud like this one. can you have the diablo tuner programmed so ESP never will come on again? would love it if you could. i never wanna see it turned on ever again.
