Power Steps Installed
Well, I will find out today about the snow. It is snowing here in Iowa and, knowing our weather, it is likely to stay. After a couple of days with these steps, I am asking myself what took so long. My wife and kids love them.
I am going to consider whether or not I want to install the lights. I am not so afraid to drill into the truck but, it is in the high teens outside and I don't feel like crawling around on the cold concrete.

yeah, they are by far the best boards out there!! i love the look of our truck without nerfs hanging off the sides. they are built really well, i want to get em. but might have to wait a little while.....
Okay, I have to gush a little bit. I am absolutely amazed at the customer support that electricstep.com and AMP Research have shown with this product. I had a small issue concerning some of the Posi-Taps that come with the kit. I shot over an e-mail to the guys at Electricstep to see if I could get a few more, expecting to get an e-mail back. Well, they actually took the time to call me personally and have gotten me in touch with the folks over at AMP Research who will take care of me.
Thus far, I have been nothing less than totally satisfied with my purchase and even though they were a bit on the expensive side, they were totally worth it in my book.

When you installed the motors, did you grease the gears? Everything is heavy duty metal but I figured a bit of grease in there wouldn't hurt anything. In fact, I packed them up pretty good to try and keep any water and stuff out.
Thoughts? The instructions didn't mention anything about that.

I called AMP Reasearch when I installed mine with the exact same question. They said DO NOT add any lube at all to the mechanisim or any of the articulating joints. They say it will attract and hold contaminates.
I've had the steps on my 09 Ram 4X4 since April and totally love them. I think that they are the best step option on the market today. (IMHO)
I bought my powersteps back over the summer when they had a rebate at Amp Research. Ended up paying only $737 total including shipping for them (took about a month to get them though since Amp Research was apparently behind in production, possibly because of the rebate increasing sales). They were a very easy install on the crew. Took about 2 hours I would guess, but that was mostly because I was at the beach house and had very few tools and was working in the driveway on my back. I have to say they are the best money I have ever spent for steps since they do actually put the step down where it makes for an easy climb in for my little ones, wife and parents (most of who made comments about it needing some sort of step when I first got the truck and they had to make the larger step up). The factory side steps and others I have had before just are not low enough to make it a good option and the ones that hang low enough to work as well as the Powersteps are too prone to damage going offroad or over curbs. In my opinion they do not look as good as the powerstep (which is pretty much invisible) or the factory units. The other funny thing about the powersteps is how many people comment on them. Since they are an option on the new F-150, Escalade, Yukon and Tahoe, I would think others would have seen these enough for the novelty to have worn off, but apparently not.
