I went in yesterday and they had their senior tech go out with me and he heard everything i was talking about and told me that its normal.
The tech explained that the exhaust manifolds are hollow and cause a lot of turbulance that echo's, and that combined with the purge solenoid and design of the engine cause that sound we here. He ownes one himself and it makes the same sounds as mine.
He put mine up on the rack and used a stethoscope on the whole engine and torque converter and noted that the sound we here is from those things I just mentioned. He told me the engine is excellent and running as designed.

I have experienced noise in my other two Hemis and while it was the same kind of sounds it wasnt as pronounced in them as in this one.
I guess there is nothing I can do about it. Its been there twice for this and documented each time. I know if I trade it the trade value is only around $26,000.00 to $28,000.00 and Im not prepared to take that kind of hit yet.
Plus IMO there just isnt any truck out there that is as nice as these Rams,

So that's the story its annoying and just doesn't sound right but I guess its normal. Unless some one else has something to report.

Note:
I just noticed that when I tried to move my videos I deleted them on you-tube, ill have to replace them for any one else who is concerned about the Hemi noise.
Ill get to that soon.

I can't imagine an engine with what 10.5 to 1 compression??? it's gotta make some noise. Also the 390 HP, I would worry if if it didn't make noise, so much room in there for noises to echo. I took a good listen to mine I think it has to do with having 16 plugs. Don't the seconds plugs pop the exhaust to "clean" it up maybe that is what we are hearing, OH I tried the turning the key forward, it does turn off the ESP completely and yes you can do a major burnout with 355 gears and the big wheels!

Just to update on that additional noise I am hearing ( high pitch beep sound). I took it into the shop because I had to get the pending wheel alignment done, it was out since I test drove it. so they listened around and traced it to my water pump making all the racket, so they ordered one up. will comment further once I get it installed probably middle of january some time.

Hey a possible successful dealership repair, are we getting back to the real world again?

By the way I said 12.5 to one compression...is that correct or is it 9.5 to 1? or something different. I was told something by a service tech, thought he said the 12.5 but I could easily be wrong.

Default It is the exhaust manifold making the sound.

I was not able to listen to your YouTube but, I think you are correct on the exhaust manifolds. Mine sounds like a chirping sound after warming up. Some have claimed it is the water pump. My dealer replaced the serpentine belt and tensioner which didn't fix the noise. The dealer also has brought around other Rams, an 09 that made the same noise and a 10 that never did make the noise after running for over 30 min. Yesterday I got my engine stethoscope out and listened to the water pump, the idler and the tensioner. None of these made the noise. I went under the truck and put it up to the passenger side exhaust and there was the noise I have been hearing. I wonder if putting on a set of headers that bolt up to the stock exhaust would make it go away?
