I put some Falkens on my durango when i had it they were nice in the snow even. Very sporty looking tread and not expensive but that suv never handled so good.

live in moncton NB and do alot of winter/snow driving. just put michelin latitude x-ice tires on and it really is noticeably better. particularly stopping and cornering, less sliding. would really recommend them. i agree with previous post about checking local laws, lived in Vancouver few yrs ago and going into mountains to ski there was often signs stating mandatory chains/snow tires. don't think that is the case on the TCH but would check.

Well today has been my only experience with my ram in snow, but I live atop a hill only accessable by a 600ft long driveway that's a hair under a 35 percent grade. We got a real big snow with a bottom layer of sleet turned ice. I've been messing around town on the snow and ice all day with no problem and gone up and down this hill several times and the snow is now pretty packed, but I still got going just fine, and it never seemed like it wanted to go squirly. This hill has got a lot of my friends and family stuck in the winter over the years so I'm happy with the way the truck and tires handled it. Would more agressive tread be better in snow? Sure. Will the stock tires do pretty good in snow? In my (limited) experience, I'd say yes.

gritty dog i live near edmonton and have made a couple trips into the mountains. you definitely don't need chains for your half ton truck. chains are only mandatory on the large semi trucks.
those HP tires are terrible for the winters out here in the prairies!! I have just thrown on some Goodyear Wrangler silent armor tires and they are amazing. they are winter rated (snowflake emblem) but they are also a all season tire. I highly recommend these tires for any winter conditions.
